When 8th-grade female student, Anushka Mangesh Kudale of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Vidyalaya Naigaon, emerged as a shining star in the field of science, her teacher was able to nurture that talent with the help of the Mini Science Lab.

Applying practical examples of STEM principles through the MSL and encouraging Anushka to develop her own curiosity towards science projects, has led to Anushka developing her own standout project: the Farmer’s Friend Magic Device.

The project, which is a device for keeping birds and predatory creatures away from crops, was so innovative that it was entered for the Taluka award and won first prize at the event. This was just the start of an incredible journey for Anushka, who then went on to enter the district level science exhibition and once again clinched first prize.

Having grown up in a farming family in Naigaon village of Khandala block, Anushka has real insight into the needs of marginalised farming communities, which she has applied to her work. Added to this, Anushka has a real commitment to learning, she told us: “There is no substitute to hard work.”

Having triumphed at the Taluka and district levels, Anushka is now representing her school at state level. The pinnacle of Anushka's achievement was being honoured by Shri. Eknathji Shinde – Chief Minister, Maharashtra and Shri. Shambhuraje Desai, Parent Minister of Satara.

For Anushaka, this is just the start of what we are sure will be a very long and successful road of science discovery. It’s a journey that Anushka may not have embarked upon without the right kind of support.

Her teacher says: “This not only reflects her individual growth but also showcases the potential that can be unleashed when students are provided with the right resources and encouragement.”
