We believe that adaptation is the key to supporting long-term agricultural development amongst disadvantaged farming communities.

Climate change is causing global distress. India’s rural population is particularly vulnerable due to our reliance on natural resources. A sustained effort is needed to mitigate the impact and assist those affected to cope with changes. We work at a local level, in regions near to ACG plants, to help promote climate resilient practices and innovativeness.

From supporting water resource development to harvest rainwater, to helping communities to convert household waste into manure to grow vegetables, our environmental projects are helping people to meet climate change challenges head on.

Supporting sustainable
agriculture in the Western Ghats

  • OVERVIEW OF REGIONAL CHALLENGES

We’re supporting several initiatives across five villages located in the Khandala block of Satara district in the Western Ghats. These regions experience huge variances in rainfall which is commonly followed by drought, leading to crop failure, groundwater depletion, and low agricultural yields.

  • IMPACT AND SOLUTIONS

Without support, farmers and their families in these areas are at risk of losing their traditional livelihoods and falling into a devastating cycle of poverty. But with a little help, they can diversify their income and learn new practices to support their families.
